Rachel Howard

Published by Blain|Southern, this 224 page artists monograph offers
a comprehensive overview of
Rachel Howard’s practice to date, presenting the chronological development of her paintings and drawings. Reflecting the religious themes in the works we designed
a page grid with very deep margins that referenced intensely crafted illuminated manuscripts. Essays
and images were then set to fill this central space. This dense formatting helped to slow down the reader and removed the perception of scale from the works allowing them to focus on only the depth in the surface. The cloth covered, case bound book was printed with a special 5th wine/blood colour that was used for end papers, captions and the suitably monumental cover typography.
