Pietro Ruffo is an Italian artist, his show The Political gymnasium consists of a series of large scale works referencing American philosophers’ theories on freedom. Amongst the caricatured figures
in Ruffo’s pencil drawings, nine statements have been carefully cut out in a stencil font and raised above the surface of the drawings with pins, creating a 2D/3D illusion.
We chose one of the works from this series for the invitation, which featured a portrait of a man in a gymnastic pose, referencing the exhibition’s title. On the reverse side, in a stencil typeface, we tightly set the show title, as seen in the works, pairing it with simply set exhibition information. For the After Party an additional set of info was foil blocked below the main text in a soft grey to reference the graphite pencils used in the drawings.
